HobbyWiki
Privacy policy
HobbyWiki takes your privacy seriously. This notice explains how we handle personal data. It follows Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (the PDPO) and the Privacy Commissioner’s guidance on online privacy policy statements. The site is mostly public reading. We do not ask you to register an account.

1. Our commitment
As far as reasonably practicable, we follow the PDPO rules on collecting, holding, using, and securing personal data, and we keep this policy public (Data Protection Principle 5: openness).
2. Data we hold and why
Depending on how you use the site, we may hold:
- Contact details you send us, such as the name, email, subject, and message in a form or an email to contact@hobbywiki.net — to reply, to handle corrections and takedowns, and to handle PDPO access or correction requests.
- Technical and log data, such as IP address, browser type, coarse device or system data, pages viewed, timestamps, and referrers — for security, troubleshooting, traffic and performance statistics, and abuse prevention.
- Data created by hosting and analytics. The site runs on Firebase (Google) services such as App Hosting, Firestore, and Cloud Storage. If Firebase Analytics or a similar tool is on, it may collect aggregated or lower-identifiability usage data so we can see what is read and improve the site.
We do not require your name, phone number, or identity document just to read the site. Sending contact details is voluntary. Without them we may be unable to reply to a specific request.
3. Cookies and similar technology
Necessary cookies and local storage remember your cookie choice and stop the same browser liking a page twice. If you agree, we also load Google Analytics (GA4) for traffic statistics and Microsoft Clarity for page-use analysis and session replay. Form fields are masked by default. We grant analytics storage only, not advertising storage. Firebase (Google) may also create technical logs to run the service. The full note is on the cookies page.
You can choose “necessary only” or block and delete cookies in the browser. Analytics scripts load only after you accept them. We do not use personal data for a direct-marketing email list.
4. Disclosure and transfer
We do not sell your personal data. We disclose it, or let others process it, only when:
- A service provider (for example Google / Firebase hosting, storage, and analytics, and Microsoft Clarity) needs it to run the site;
- The law, a court, or a regulator lawfully requires it;
- It is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the site, users, or the public.
Hosting and cloud services may process data outside Hong Kong. Where practicable we use providers with reasonable security arrangements.
5. Retention and security
Personal data is kept only as long as the purpose needs it, then deleted or anonymised, unless the law requires longer retention. We take reasonably practicable steps to protect it, including access limits and the transport and access controls our providers offer. Transmission over the internet is not absolutely secure.
6. Access and correction
Under the PDPO you may ask to access personal data we hold about you and to correct data that is inaccurate. Email contact@hobbywiki.net with the subject “personal data access / correction” and enough detail for us to verify you and find the record.
We try to comply within the PDPO period (generally 40 days). Where the law allows a fee, it will not exceed the permitted level and we will tell you first.
7. Direct marketing
We do not use your personal data for direct marketing. If that changes, we will first obtain any consent the PDPO requires, or offer an opt-out, and we will update this policy.
8. Minors
The site is for general toy readers. It is not built to collect personal data from children. If you are under 18, contact us only with a parent or guardian’s agreement. We do not knowingly collect more personal data from a minor than we need.
9. External links
Third-party sites we link to have their own privacy policies. Read those after you leave. We are not responsible for their practices.
10. Updates
We may revise this policy and will show the date on this page. For a material change we will try to give a reasonable notice, for example a note at the top of this page.
11. Contact
Questions and personal-data complaints: contact@hobbywiki.net. You can also use contact. This policy is interpreted under the law of the Hong Kong SAR.
The Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) text is the governing version under Hong Kong law. This English page is the same policy, written so you can read it.
