HobbyWiki
Cookies
This page explains how HobbyWiki uses cookies, local storage, and similar technology. Personal data is covered in the privacy policy.

1. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Local storage keeps preferences on your device, such as your cookie choice or whether this browser already liked a page. We use them for basic functions, to remember your choice, or — only after you agree — for traffic analysis.
2. Categories we use
- Necessary. Remembers accept-all or necessary-only, and de-duplicates likes so the same browser is not counted twice. Not used for ad tracking.
- Analytics (consent). Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity, so editors can see page views, what is read, and how pages are used, including session replay. They load only after you choose accept all. Input fields are masked and are not uploaded to Clarity.
- Hosting. Firebase (Google) App Hosting, Firestore, and Cloud Storage may set technical cookies or logs for security, load, and operations. See the privacy policy.
3. Google Analytics (GA4)
If you accept analytics cookies, we load Google’s gtag / GA4 script. The measurement id comes from NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID. GA4 may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to tell browser sessions apart and to aggregate statistics. We enable IP anonymisation and similar settings where we can.
You can clear cookies and site data in the browser at any time. If the consent record is deleted, the prompt appears again on the next visit. “Necessary only” does not load GA4 or Microsoft Clarity.
4. Microsoft Clarity
If you accept analytics cookies, we load Microsoft Clarity. The project id comes from NEXT_PUBLIC_CLARITY_PROJECT_ID, and the script is served from https://www.clarity.ms. Clarity shows how a page is used (heatmaps and session replay) so we can improve layout. It loads after the page is interactive and does not block the first paint.
Clarity may set analytics cookies such as _clck and _clsk. We grant analytics storage only, not advertising storage, and we do not use Clarity for ad remarketing. Inputs and selects are masked by default. The enquiry form is also marked data-clarity-mask. Masked content is not uploaded.
5. How to manage them
- On a first visit, the notice above the footer offers accept all or necessary only.
- Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Some features, such as remembering consent, may then stop working.
- Personal-data rights and contact details are in the privacy policy and on contact.
6. Updates
We may update this page when the technology we use changes. Continuing to use the site means you have seen the latest note. Analytics cookies still load only after you expressly agree.
